Clarity Rose aims to stay at the forefront of psychological, nutrition, and psychiatric research to provide our patients with the best evidence-based care.
Training and Education
Clarity Rose offers research and will offer supervision experiences
For trainees affiliated with a University, with the consent of your advisor to work with and collect data from community partners, we can draft IRB approval and discuss research ideas that utilize the data of diverse patients receiving psychological treatment in community settings. All data collected is de-identified and stored in a HIPAA-compliant secure location. Research topics of interest could include the following variables:
- Eating disorder symptoms
- Weight disorder symptoms
- Other psychological symptoms (e.g., anxiety, depression, suicidality, trauma, etc.)
- Socioeconomic status
- Race/ethnicity
- Language
- Ethnic cultural standards (e.g., Machismo, John Henryism, Strong Black Woman Ideal, etc.)
- Systemic issues (e.g., discrimination, microaggressions, beauty bias, etc.)
Trainees or licensed providers looking to get experience and supervision in eating and weight disorder treatment and associated comorbidities, this is a great place for training! We pride ourselves in a culturally-humble approach that emphasizes and openly discusses how we as clinicians may show up in the therapy space and how we can improve upon our approach to culturally-humble treatment.
What You’ll Learn:
- Foundations of culturally-humble treatment
- Assessment and diagnosis of eating and weight disorders
- Assessment and diagnosis of mood-disorders and trauma
- Developing a treatment plan for patients with multiple psychiatric diagnoses
- Exposure to bilingual care
- Implementation of evidence-based treatment with cultural adaptations
- How to manage the responsibilities of caring for a high acuity population

Alexis Exum, PhD
Clinical Psychologist
As a doctoral level psychologist who received by education from a top research institution that prides itself on many faculty receiving top level grant funding from sources like NIH, I have extensive experience with conducting research. I have been trained by some of the best researchers in the eating and weight disorder field to identify and develop research ideas, conduct systematic reviews of research, research design, data collection, data analysis, and research writing for publication. I have worked with a variety of IRBs and submitted a variety of different grant mechanisms, such as those offered by NIH.
I am based in Maryland and will be able to offer supervision for patients in Maryland and Virginia. I also offer specialized supervision experiences for trainees and providers looking to learn about new populations and treatment modalities.
